PADI Discover ScubaIf you’ve always wanted to try scuba diving then jump in! Here’s your chance to breathe underwater in a fun, convenient session conducted in a pool, or any pool-like body of water. Whether you watch the short PADI Discover Scuba video, or are briefed with the Discover Scuba Diving Flip Chart, you’ll enter the water ready for your scuba adventure. After you and your instructor strap on your scuba gear, you’ll have the chance to dive down to 6 meters/20 feet. As soon as you Discover Scuba, you’re on your way to an internationally recognized certification. That’s because you may learn skills from the PADI Open Water Diver course during your Discover Scuba adventure. If you and your instructor elect to practice these skills, they may be credited to the PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certifications. What does all that mean? Go diving, practice some skills with your instructor, get a head start on your PADI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification! To go on your Discover Scuba adventure, you must at least be 10 years or older and complete the Discover Scuba Statement (which includes a medical questionnaire).
PADI Open WaterNow is the time to dive into the PADI Open Water Diver course, the most popular dive program in the world! This is your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure with PADI, a dive company that sets the standards in the global diving community. Throughout the course, you'll learn fundamentals of scuba diving, including dive equipment and techniques. You will also earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification that is recognized worldwide. You earn this rating by completing five pool dives and knowledge development sessions and by making four open water (ocean or lake) dives. As a certified PADI Open Water Diver you have the freedom to dive with a buddy independent of a professional. If you already tried a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience or are PADI Scuba Diver certified, check with your instructor to see how credit from these courses may apply to the open water program. Your underwater adventure can begin as soon as today with the new PADI Open Water Diver Video and interactive CD-ROM! You can view these materials at home, at your own pace and then meet with an instructor for further assistance. Open water learning options also include group or private instruction. This course offers tremendous flexibility and lets you work out individual needs with your instructor. Virtually anyone who is in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water can earn a PADI Open Water Diver certification. At some point in the course, your PADI Instructor will ask you to demonstrate the ability to swim 200 meters/yards without swim aids or 300 meters/yards with mask, fins and snorkel and complete a bit of paperwork, to get you on your way. If you are between 10 and 14 or have a child between these ages, there is a PADI Junior Open Water Diver program available.

PADI Advanced Open WaterLooking for the ultimate adventure? You found it! PADI's Adventures In Diving program fine-tunes your dive skills and allows you to explore all that diving has to offer. It's your dive - go for it! The Adventures In Diving program offers you a structured program where you gain additional experience and skills under the guidance of a PADI Professional. PADI's Adventures In Diving program has something for everyone. This inwater, performance-based program includes dives from the following:
If you're at least 12 years or older and a PADI Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver (or equivalent), then you're ready for the PADI Adventures In Diving program. The PADI Adventures In Diving program offers two certification options. Complete any three Adventure Dives to earn the PADI Adventure Diver rating. Complete the Deep and Underwater Navigation Adventure Dives and three additional Adventure Dives (five total) and earn a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification. Divers between the ages of 12-14 can earn a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver rating. The maximum recommended depth for adventure dive is 30 meters /100 feet. PADI Adventure Divers and Advanced Open Water Divers (15 years of age and older) may participate in PADI Wreck and Deep Diver Specialties. PADI Advanced Open Water Diver or Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification lets you continue on to the PADI Rescue Diver or Junior Rescue Diver course. And, provided you meet minimum age requirements for individual courses, you may take PADI Specialties such as Cavern Diver (18 years), Semiclosed Rebreather-Dolphin/Atlantis/Ray (15 years), and Search and Recovery (12 years). What's more, PADI Adventure Dives also count towards PADI Specialty Diver certifications. For example, if you like night diving and want to earn your PADI Night Diver rating, your Night Adventure Dive counts as the first dive of the specialty.
PADI Emergency First Response (EFR)Want to be ready in an emergency? Then this program is for you! The PADI EFR program covers basic training for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and emergency care. In addition, it's a medically based program covering primary care, secondary care and treatments following national consensus guidelines. The program is designed for divers and non-divers, and also meets the CPR and first aid prerequisite for earning your PADI Rescue Diver rating. So if you're seeking CPR/first aid training to meet a diving program requirement or for personal enhancement, this program is for you.
PADI Rescue DiverHow do you take a subject like accident prevention and management and turn it into fun? Call it the PADI Rescue Diver program! The PADI Rescue Diver program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render first aid. The program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver. PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent) certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI leadership programs. To get into the PADI Rescue Diver program, you'll need to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent) and must be at least 15 years old. During the PADI Instructor Development program, you'll learn the PADI System of diver education, standards and procedures, effective academic teaching presentations, teaching in confined water, conducting open water training dives and additional related topics. You'll learn these topics one of two ways; through the PADI Instructor Development Program (IDC) or the PADI Instructor Orientation Program (IOC) (Note: the IOC is an option available only if you're an instructor that is current with another certification organization and wish to become a PADI Instructor.) After successful completion of the IDC or IOC, you must successfully complete the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). You will be evaluated on; dive theory, academic teaching, confined-water (pool) teaching, open-water teaching and general diving skills and professionalism. As a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor you can conduct the entire range of PADI experience programs and PADI diver programs, from Open Water Diver through Divemaster (except for specialties and PADI EFR, which require specific Specialty Diver Instructor and EFR Instructor ratings). PADI Specialty InstructorPADI Specialty Instructors have the best of both worlds. Not only have they earned the qualifications to conduct main stream dive programs such as the PADI Open Water Diver, Advanced, Rescue Diver and Divemaster programs, they can also conduct PADI Specialty Diver programs. These programs help divers to hone their skills in specific area or facets of diving such as wreck, night and deep diving. PADI has a variety of standardized specialty diver programs that you may conduct once you have earned PADI Specialty Instructors rating in that specific area. These each program is supported by outlines and a variety of other student learning materials. In addition to the standardized specialty programs, as a PADI Assistant Instructor or higher you may write your own distinctive specialty programs, which may be conducted once approved by PADI. If you're already a PADI Assistant Instructor or higher and want to qualify as a PADI Specialty Instructor, you'll need to attend a Specialty Instructor Training Program (conducted by a PADI Course Director) or apply directly to PADI. During the Specialty Instructor Training Program you'll receive valuable hands-on training, technique demonstrations, program marketing information, current PADI Standards information and, when applicable, instructor-level open water training. To enroll in a Specialty Instructor Training Program, you must be a renewed PADI Assistant Instructor (certified/upgraded using the 1995 revised curriculum), a renewed PADI Underwater Instructor (or PADI Instructor with a higher rating) or have completed an IDC/IOC** within the past 12 months.
